The Freeride Idea Contest 2015

Since snowboarding took of the snowboard boots are enviable by all means. Much more comfortable easy to walk climb get around. Okay some of you will say "the binding matters" ofcourse. But what if we could just use our ski boots as boots off the track or climbing and just by adding a Shell with easy buckles and make it in to a skii boot instantly and take off. Ýnnovative stuff such as POC Tarsus boots will lead the way and I think more can be done.

snowboard boots were never good for climbing, especially in hard snow. Nor are they enviable because they last about 3 days before falling apart and are no more comfortable than properly fitted ski boots. Many randonnee boots already have liners that can be worn outside of the boot. You'll always need a specialized liner or innerboot to ski with no matter what kind of shell design there is. ptor

Thanks.You are right about that in hard snow part and they do fall apart after a certain amount of time which mine did, which I have a 3rd pair already for the last 3 years. The need for a synthesis of what you have underlined as specialized inner boot for flexible climbing getting around actions and an exterior cover for the binding and good skiing experience is obvious. Most of the time the snowboard boots fail because they are subjected to immense bending and buckling forces with the Strap On/Flow-In Bindings. The shell should be a protector in this sense. myth
